The precursor to Bugs Bunny appeared for the third time in the 1939 cartoon Hare-um Scare-um, directed by Cal Dalton and Ben Hardaway. In this one, he changes from the form of a white rabbit to that of a gray rabbit wearing yellow gloves, with a pink face and a frothy white ball-shaped tail (this is the second prototype). It is also an opportunity for him, and for the first time, to sing and dress up as a woman in order to seduce his opponent. Charlie Thorson, main animator of this short film, was the first to give a name to this character.
