5 Sesame Street
5 Sesame Street is a television program for French youth, inspired by the American program Sesame Street and broadcast on France 5 and Piwi from 2005 to 2007. This is the second Sesame Workshop production adapted for France after 1, rue Sésame (1978-1982).
The first season includes seventy-five 26-minute episodes directed by François Basset and Jul Mallard. Co-produced by Expand-Drama and Sesame Workshop, it aired daily, Monday through Friday at 8:25 a.m., Saturday at 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. , and Sunday at 6:35 a.m.

The team
For the most part, the characters in 5 Sesame Street are unique to the series.
- Puppets
- Nac (played by Régis Fassier): monster with yellow fur 2.2 m high; gentle, positive and generous, he is the “mascot” of the show.
- Griotte (played by Évelyne Scheigam): little purple Muppet, she is paraplegic and uses a wheelchair, but nevertheless participates in all activities in the street.
- Yoyo (performed by Yves Brunier): orange monster; he is fearful, hyperemotional and anxious but he has a heart of gold.
- Olive (played by Charlie Bazire): little monster with green fur; fearless, funny and smiling, Olive is all of these.
- Elmo (played by Christophe Albertini): little monster with red fur; three and a half years old, he is the youngest character on the show. From the American version.
- Georges (played by Richard Sandra): this blue-billed penguin arrived on Sesame Street in an ice cube. An endearing character, he befriends the rest of the inhabitants of the street.
- Real characters
- Titouan (played by Florent Morinière): retired; always cheerful, he is considered a “true modern dad”.
- Baya (interpreted by Myriam Loucif): baker; his good humor and generosity give confidence to the inhabitants of the street.
- Juliet (played by Chloé Stefani): this young student works as the director of Paperstand.
Origins of puppets
Griotte’s puppet is based on that of Roxie Marie, a character who appeared on the original American show during part of the 1990s. In addition to being in a wheelchair unlike Roxie, Griotte also has longer hair.
Yoyo is inspired by Narf in Sesame Street and Nac is based on the bear Tiberius (another creation of the Jim Henson Company). Olive made her debut as Karina the ballerina, a friend of Zoe and Elmo, on Sesame Street .
The American version of Sesame Street regularly included penguins, and they have become standard on The Muppet Show , but George is the first penguin whose character is fully developed.
Season 1
The show follows the original Sesame Street format: in each episode, the story (taking place as a “street scene”) is split into four parts.
It is interspersed with a sign language segment, exercise segments across the country, and Nac’s World , which reuses excerpts from the American series Global Grover . Other recurring sections: the Letter of the Day with Cookie Monster and Prairie Dawn and the Number of the Day with Count von Count (Count von Count).
Twenty songs are performed in this season, including ten composed exclusively for the show by Madeleine Going on lyrics by Alexandra Pic.
